When Defence puppets mouth government politics

When Defence runs party-political propaganda, CONTACT tends to leave it as is – just to highlight how far the politicians’ fists are up the Defence-puppets’ backsides.

Case in point – “[Project LAND 125] will further demonstrate the Government’s commitment to Australian small and medium enterprises by engaging a strategic industry partner and, also reinforce the Government’s commitment to ensuring Australia’s capability through the implementation of its Sovereign Industry Capability Policy.”

When statements like that come from a minister’s press release, CONTACT (usually) immediately edits the party-political aggrandisement and PR fluff out of it – resulting in something like…

“[Project LAND 125] will demonstrate our commitment to small and medium enterprises and reinforce our commitment to Australia’s sovereign-industry capability,” Minister XYZ said.

That’s a palatable 20 words shorter and still manages to say pretty much the same thing, but a lot less political.

BUT, when the Department of Defence  – which is supposed to be apolitical says – “The project will further demonstrate the Government’s commitment to Australian small and medium enterprises by engaging a strategic industry partner and, also reinforce the Government’s commitment to ensuring Australia’s capability through the implementation of its Sovereign Industry Capability Policy” – then we leave the paragraph unchanged, just to highlight how far the politicians have their fists up the apolitical department-puppet’s backside.
