Sinister and unusual vehicle movements in NT

From Monday 8 August until Friday 19 August motorists in the Katherine region of the Northern Territory may notice convoys of military vehicles carrying what appear to be surface-to-air missiles and rocket-propelled grenades.

These convoys are transporting simulated weapons systems as part of Exercise Pitch Black 2016 to provide a realistic training environment for aircrew.

As part of the exercise, uniformed Air Force and Army personnel will move the simulated weapons systems throughout the day and evening.

Whilst the simulated weapons present no danger, to ensure effective training, members of the public should refrain from approaching military members during training activities.
