The order value is AU$56million with deliveries to be scheduled during 2024-2025.

The new Carl-Gustaf M4 weapons will be delivered with Saab’s new Fire Control Device, FCD 558.

Saab Australia Managing Director Andy Keough said this new order continued Saab’s longstanding relationship with the Australian Defence Force and again demonstrated the diverse range of products and services the company offered.

“We are proud to deliver modern and user-focused weapon systems that ensure the ADF’s ability to meet a wide range of challenges on the battlefield,” Mr Keough said.

“Saab’s support for the ADF extends from these advanced weapons through to ground-based air-defence solutions, battle-management systems and world-leading deployable health and infrastructure services.

“Proven to deliver results on the battlefield, Carl-Gustaf provides the effectiveness soldiers need.

“The wide range of ammunition types for Carl-Gustaf makes it flexible and able to handle any situation, whether to destroy an armoured vehicle or structure, or illuminating the battlefield during night operations.”

Thankfully Sweden – now in NATO – but also seems to now be far more flexible with their ammo supplies; the arrangements working well to date. Great weapon.
As we have seen from Ukraine, well trained and determined infantry can very competently destroy tanks. Although the best anti-tank weapon is still – another tank!
Something that we must never forget!

Are these the same weapons for could not use in SVN due to Sweden’s objection to the war?

Yes, you’re correct the Swedes left our Diggers to die in front of V.C. bunkers, just keep it to yourself!
