The RSAF C-130 Training Detachment provided tactical airlift training for the Hercules throughout May at RAAF Base Richmond.

Activities took place within airspace, airfields and drop zones across the Hawkesbury, Blue Mountains and regional NSW areas, and included night-time and low-level missions.

A C-130J Hercules from 37 Squadron Air Mobility Training and Development Unit and 22 Squadron joined Army’s 176AD Squadron in providing opportunities to enhance interoperability between Australia and Singapore.

37 Squadron worked closely with the RSAF to plan and execute missions to improve the C-130 Hercules capability, while 176AD Squadron completed cargo delivery system drop training.

Commander Air Mobility Group Air Commodore Bradley Clarke said the C-130 Training Detachment in Australia was one of several training activities conducted by the RSAF in Australia.”

“Supporting this training contributes to Singapore’s security, and a safe and prosperous Indo-Pacific region,” he said.

Historically the RSAF has provided air mobility response to Australia during times of need, including Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief missions with Operation Flood Assist 22 and Operation Bushfire Assist 19-20.

The RSAF C-130 Training Detachment in Australia increases Singapore’s ability to conduct these types of missions with its C-130 Hercules workforce.

“Defence’s support of the RSAF C-130 Training Detachment in Australia continues our close relationship with the Republic of Singapore Air Force, and ensures our respective workforces can provide tactical airlift in challenging circumstances,” Air Commodore Clarke said.
