Hercs celebrate 20th birthday

September 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the C-130J Hercules to Royal Australian Air Force service.

The aircraft was introduced to service with No. 37 Squadron at RAAF Base Richmond, and originally intended to provide Defence with a strategic airlift capability.

The fleet soon evolved to become the primary medium tactical airlifter for Defence, supporting numerous operations nationally and abroad.

To celebrate the milestone, No. 37 Squadron conducted a series of flypasts of RAAF Base Richmond and Glenbrook on 6 September 2019, and hosted past members of its C-130J workforce.
