National Boer War Memorial dedicated

Australia’s National Boer War Memorial was officially dedicated in Canberra on 31 May 2017 by Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove.

The Boer War in South Africa was fought between 1899 and 1902 and was the first war in which Australian troops fought in a foreign land.

More than 23,000 Aussies volunteered for the fight, suffering about 1000 casualties.
