Madelon ‘Del’ Heuke – Life on the Line

Angus Hordern interviews Vietnam veteran Madelon ‘Del’ Heuke, a nurse in the Royal Australian Air Force.

In 1965 she was deployed to Butterworth, Malaysia, where she nursed Australian soldiers wounded in action in the Vietnam War.

She also flew into Vietnam for medevacs.

In this interview, Madelon shares stories of her experiences overseas and the soldiers she nursed to health, giving a nurse’s perspective to the Vietnam conflict.
