Another Melbourne COVID-19 case for ADF

Defence added another confirmed case of COVID-19 today, indicated on their little black map as occurring in Melbourne.

This brings Defence’s total case numbers to 75, with 64 officially listed as recovered.

Meanwhile, there’s much reporting of large-scale ADF deployments in Victoria, as that state continues to struggle with their very serious outbreaks.

However, official Defence figures, updated today, don’t back up the reporting…

  • 252 ADF personnel are providing logistics support to the Department of Health and Human Services, including contact tracing.
  • 184 personnel are involved in medical testing initiatives.
  • 164 personnel are supporting Victoria Police checkpoints.
  • 117 personnel are assisting in other logistics roles, including the Police Assistance Line callcentre in Ballarat.

That’s a total of 717 personnel actually deployed in Victoria – or less than half the total force assigned almost two weeks ago, the balance of which is still on standby.
