PTSD Awareness Day – Senator Jacqui Lambie’s view

Three years ago today, we gave up on Jesse Bird. We let an Afghanistan veteran die, alone, broken, bankrupt, covered in letters from his own government saying he deserves absolutely nothing.

He was wounded by war, but he was broken by bureaucracy.

We shouldn’t have lost him. We shouldn’t let it ever happen again.

Lest we forget Jesse Bird. Lest we forget.

The above yellow ribbon represents a veteran who has taken his own life.

There will be hundreds of these tied to trees across Australia today, to mark World PTSD Day.

Please take the time to talk to someone if you need it, and know you’re not alone.

We will not forget them.
