Praise for a true veterans’ advocate – Overwatch

My name is Tracey and I’m ex WRAAC/RACT.

I recently retired due to ill health from working as a Veterans Advocate.

Within the time frame after this, I still saw a need on social media for ex military people to reach out.

I was asked by a mate to attend and assist one of his Overwatch appointments that was urgent.

It was from this that I saw a desperate need for those of the Ex Services who weren’t able or weren’t aware of what was out there to help and assist them.

I myself was in this boat for decades until I started work with the RSL.
Sadly the RSL wasn’t very helpful to me or a select group but Overwatch was.

There are many types of almost “French Underground” Operational groups out there who do this life saving assistance from their own time and pockets.

I feel it’s high time that DVA or maybe some other non-profit group support this wonderful Organisation!

There is one man I know who tirelessly works and keeps up friendships/ongoing help for those he has assisted from “the dark side of PTSD”.

I’d like to nominate him and the organisation he works under but would moreso like to see this group on Facebook get the recognition and support they need to continue.

They themselves like me, get tired and despondent from time to time and need more genuine souls and support.
