Installing a heavy support beam – and incurring personal injury

While I was waiting for other things outside my control in the bathroom to get done – and waiting for my OS flight – I decided to make a start on a serious piece of structural engineering.

We need a bigger window in an outside wall for the apartment’s new kitchen.

Trouble is, this outside, load-bearing wall is in seriously bad shape, with several daylight-admitting crack.

So, I need to give it some love and support before I cut a huge hole in it.

CAUTION: Viewer discretion advised – scenes of ‘serious’ personal injury included – which is always good for a laugh when it doesn’t happen to you. Right?
