The ADF contingent, comprised of members from Army’s 17th Sustainment Brigade and other units across Australia, will deploy on a six-month rotation as part of Force Support Element – 13.

Commander 1st Division Major General Jake Ellwood in his address at the parade said the event marked the end of seven-week pre-deployment training for the members of Force Support Element – 13.

“Our men and women are equipped, trained and ready to represent our nation on this important mission and I thank them for their contribution to Defence,” Major General Ellwood said.

Minister for Defence Linda Reynolds said today’s parade was an opportunity to recognise the service of our ADF personnel as well as their families and friends who make their service possible.

“Force Support Element – 13 will provide critical logistics support to ADF personnel deployed as part of Operations Accordion and Highroad in the Middle East,” Minister Reynolds said.

“I am incredibly proud of each and every one of our personnel who support Australia’s contribution to regional and global security in the Middle East Region.

“I also thank their families and friends because without their support, the deployment of our personnel would not be possible.”

Where are they going? Who’s going and what does it entail? We’ve had plenty of time in the middle east and nothing to show from it. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria. You’d think the troops would be looking forward to some home time.

Hi Grant. Don’t worry about them – this story was published three years ago, so they’ve been over and come home – and a good number of them would have discharged by now 😉
