Five more Defence members recover from COVID-19

Five more Defence members have been officially declared recovered from COVID-19 since yesterday, bringing the total recovered to 53 out of 55 infected.

The two remaining cases were only recently diagnosed – one in PNG last Thursday and more ‘somewhere overseas’ officially announced yesterday.

Defence put out a detailed press release concerning the PNG case late on Saturday (which is very unusual), but gave no information on the subsequent case (as is the norm).

Meanwhile – Defence’s support to Operation COVID-19 has been reduced again, to 700 personnel deployed – down from recent steady figure of 900, and from the peak of about 2400.
