A member of the New Zealand SAS has died following a training accident in Auckland last night.

The trooper was taken immediately by helicopter to Auckland City Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The soldier’s family has been informed and are being supported at this sad time.

A New Zealand Defence Force spokesman said the NZDF offered its deepest condolences to all involved and their thoughts and sympathies were with the soldier’s family, friends and colleagues.
