Donation supports Navy families

In an ongoing show of support, Navy Health recently donated $100,000 to Navy’s own charity, Keeping Watch.

Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Mark Hammond is the patron of the charity that supports Navy people and their families in times of need.
Navy Health’s contribution will provide a substantial boost to Keeping Watch and underscores the strong bond between Navy Health and Navy.
The official cheque was presented to the Chief of Navy at a ceremony attended by Chief Executive Officer of Navy Health Ltd Ron Wilson, Director Commodore (retd) Michael Miko, Chairman Rear Admiral (retd) Michael van Balen and former chairman Rear Admiral (retd) Adam Grunsell.
Keeping Watch Chairman Commodore Eric Young attended the presentation and said the charity demonstrated Navy’s commitment to its people and the families that support them.
“It has been a beacon of hope for many since it was established in 2013, easing the stress of financial and emotional hardship,” he said.
“Navy Health’s valued contribution will significantly increase our ability to support our people who are facing challenging circumstances, often at their most difficult time, and ultimately avoid a situation that leads to them spiralling into a personal crisis.”
As a not-for-profit health fund, Navy Health supports people beyond the Navy community.
Navy Health is a health insurance option for serving and ex-serving ADF members, their families and, more broadly, those working for companies that supply the ADF.
Through the divisional system, Keeping Watch is regularly called upon to consider assistance to a wide range of Navy people.
As the official Navy Charity, donations to Keeping Watch are always welcome and tax deductable.
