Jungle Centurions

Far from the muddied fields of Cambrai
Where their ancestors first stalked the battle
Great beasts of steel in a jungle lair
Await the coming fray.

Engines set to idle drone their ritual mantra

The solemn chorus of mechanical warriors
Seeking solace from their god-protector
In congregation at a verdant altar.

We who tend these beasts must endure
Our great charges to rouse from prayer
Only then sure they will heed the call
To be once more our beasts of war.
