Victorinox wins ADF multi-tool contract

Victorinox AG of Switzerland – makers of the original Swiss Army Knife – and Australian distributor Sheldon & Hammond have disclosed that they have been awarded as manufacturer of the preferred multi tool for the Australian Defence Force.

Supply of the preferred Victorinox multi tool forms part of Land 125 Phase 4 Integrated Soldier System – Field Equipment, a partnership between Sea to Summit and the Commonwealth of Australia to modernise ADF field equipment.

The supply will be executed under a Standing Offer Deed with Sea to Summit as announced by the Minister for Defence, Sen Linda Reynolds, in December 2019.

The chosen multi tool – Victorinox Swiss Tool Spirit MXBS 3.0226.3AUS (NSN 5110-66-166-1357) – was specifically designed for the ADF in order to be fully compliant with the tender.

This new tool features 25 functions including single-hand operation of the primary and secondary blades, designed to successfully integrate with combat gloves.

Initial supply to the ADF will commence this year.

Victorinox also plans to introduce this new model to the Australian public in 2021.

    Will this end the supply of the tried and tested ‘FUD’ supplied with ration packs? They are a mainstay in my kitchen and outdoors kit.
