Aerospace Bristol Aircraft Museum England acquired the veteran aircraft towards the end of last year and will ship it ‘home’ to Bristol shortly.

David Bradley explains the project in this video by AirFlowNZ

The Bristol Freighter has been stored at Ardmore Airport for more than 20 years.

The intent is to repaint the aircraft in its original RNZAF delivery colours.

Bristol Freighters were flown by the RNZAF’s 41 Squadron and were well known to ANZAC Forces in the Malayan Emergency.

The Bristol Freighters were flown by 41 Sqn RNZAF …. not 49 as stated in the article 🙂 I flew many hours on NZ 5911 in Malaysia/Thailand/Vietnam 1963 thru 1965.

Thank you Peter. I have corrected the story. I can’t remember where I got the original info from, but I trust your say so.
