Thanks for a very informative CONTACT newsletter.
Having family that were “on the land,” I can relate to your reaction to the dairy farmers.
I feel so helpless here on the Fraser Coast, and my main way of showing my gratitude and support to the victims and volunteers during the bushfires that have ravaged our beautiful country is by cash donations.
On Saturday the 4th of January, the Hervey Bay RSL did a bucket collection for the Bushfire Appeal, and the sum raised was $19K. The Club itself, as well as the Sub-branch, matched the amount raised on the day by patrons.
I have been sending messages to a couple of my ex-Army mates who have been caught in the thick of it, either battling the fires or volunteering at their local community centre.
As we see time and time again, the Aussie spirit shines through, because that’s what we do.
To all who have suffered this summer, I send heartfelt blessings to them all, and wish them a speedy recovery from this ordeal.
And, a huge THANK-YOU to all the firies, volunteers and Service personnel. You are the REAL heroes.
